SILENCE

There's silence when your faith is broken.
There's silence when your guilt is proven.
There's silence when you're caught in confusion...

There's silence in the face of thinevitable.
There's silence on the block of the unalterable.
There's silence in the vacuum of the insensible...

There's silence in abstinence, tolerance,
and rigours of penance.
There's silence before birth, after death,
all through the existence...

Silence is being selfless and pure.
Silence is being blissfully secure.
Silence is being absorb'd in the
sacredness of Nature...

Silence is meditation.
Silence is searching for the truth
in the unknown.
Silence is comprehending things beyond
the text and lexicon...

When I behold the sky
Incomprehensible of its boundlessness
And when I run my eyes
Across  solemn water's vast expanses
And when I bury my visage
Deep into future's fathomlessness,
I do find silence settling all the distance
Between me and the yonder
My mind drops silent when I un-define
The defined, and define the undefinable...
Residing in the depth of silence I
Listen to their sublimity and hear
The voice of the Creation - of perfection -
Of grandness - of beauty - of immortality :
The voice is the definite navigation of the
Cosmos across the eternity -
The voice is the melting of celestial thunders,
Tectonic collisions and mundane explosions
Into the stately and serene intonation
of the Absolute...

The sins in me when raise the height
of cacophony,
When earthly noises cast the pall
of monotony,
That I retreat to the Haven of Silence
And in my silence I find my existence...

So I do always love to sit in the
bare mid-night's lawn
And look into the unseen depth through
the stars hither and yon
And as I get lost in the subtle regions
of the unknown
Nothing I see - Nothing I hear -
No confusion, no emotion,
No fights of reason.
No fear of loss, no grief, no angst, no pain.
No love, no hate, no greed and none...
But some silence throbs down and
swallows me up !
I find my being metamorphosed into
the magical voice of silence :
Cuckoo's Spring rendition,
Cloud-burst in the Summer,
Pattering of the 'new rain',
Lactating mother's tonic lullabies,
Shepherd's home-coming serenades,
Chowkidar's hooters in the fright of night...

Reside do I in the consciousness.
My consciousness is the soul of silence.
In silence I see God descending from Heaven
And happily entering me.
I understand Silence, understand Life,
and understand Me...

I DO CRY : SONNET 59

I cry, I do cry breathless like a baby. You notice me or not but I do cry -- Whole drown'd in tears -- be it night or day it be -- No care if you find me absurd and wry. But I can't be unfair to cry, or vague If crying can protect me from strokes of death  That nothing else on earth can, though I beg With my bowl'd palms held heavenward in good faith. Yes, I do cry (Whoe’er on earth will not With the betrayer's dagger stabb'd in heart?), But know my tears will flow all through the drought And grow new plants of love ere life does part. Maybe to kill the fatal pain the heart bears, Come out generously life-giving tears. -- N. P. SAMAL

THE RETURN : RHYME 100

Infants gambol about their home With blooms and toys, But they return to mom's bosom For the real joys. Children frolic about the streams, In meads and hedges, But to their home they return for Their real flowerage. Youths do rush about crazy for World's whole treasure, But they return for real living To own life and career.  Adults get sunk into the labour With dedication, But this's the return to raise well Their own children.  The old trudge about the yard Of their nursing shed, But lastly they return for rest To their death bed. -- N.
