THE VALENTINE ROSE

            The Valentine Rose

                            Posturing his body
                     In a prayerful genuflection,
                                Out held a rose 
                         His Majesty Saha Jahan

                          And with utmost care 

                                    Planted it
                           In the cheery hands
                         Of Her Grace Mumtaz,

                   That has been blooming since,
                            Yet more gloriously,

                              As times move by,
                        On the monumental love
                              Of the Taj Mahal,
                                     Whereas

                           In the lustrous gloom
                                 Of the Nether
                        Of the Modern Valentines
                   Grows the 'merchandised rose'
                               For just one day,
                             On the defile dome
                           Of lies, lust and loans...
